"V'AL B'RISCHO SHECHOSAMTO BIVSORAYNU" - GIVING THE COMMANDMENT OF CIRCUMCISION

"v’al b’rischo shechosamto bivsoraynu" - (and for the agreement which You sealed in our flesh)

Since women were not given the "mitzvah" of circumcision, there are opinions that women should not say these words in "bentching". (Rama - Orach Chaiyim187:3) However, the Mishnah B’ruroh (187:9) states, that women SHOULD mention the Bris. They should thank Hashem for giving the commandment of circumcision to the men. It was as a reward for this "mitzvah", that Eretz Yisroel was given to ALL of us. The Bedek Habaiyis brings another reason that women should mention the "Bris". A person is not called "odom" (man), until he has a wife. Since a husband and wife become "bosor echod" (one), women can mention the "bris" (circumcision).
