#13
She makes bedspreads for herself, her clothing is linen and purple wool.
She makes her own beautiful bedding and clothing (Metzudas David), which
are always kept clean and fit perfectly (Ralbag). She uses the riches and talent, with
which Hashem blessed her (Malbim). Even though she works hard to see that the rest
of her family has fine, warm clothes (“red wool”), she is satisfied to dress neatly and
tastefully, but not expensively (Me’am Lo’ez). Shabbos clothing (and bedspreads -
Shir Tzion) should be especially nice and neat.
This phrase has another meaning, too. Besides the clothing which we wear on
our bodies, there are also "clothes" for our soul. These are a person's actions, speech,
and thoughts. When a person is busy doing good things, it has a good effect on the
way she speaks and thinks.
