Don't think
about pleasures when you daven.

"(When davening) a person
should not think about things that his body
enjoys." (Rema, Orach Chaim 98:1) The Rif
explains that someone who is worried, has trouble
praying, and because of this, he prays for a
shorter time. (Brachos 31A) Prayer is when we
completely depend on Hashem. To begin with, a
person should always give praise to Hashem, and
afterwards pray. (Brachos 32A) When a person is
busy worrying about what he needs, he cannot
praise Hashem the right way. |
